20-day Indo-US joint military exercise to begin today in Idaho
The Army has started two separate exercises with the US and Indonesia. An Indian Army contingent today departed the 15th edition of the India-US joint special forces exercise ‘Vajra Prahar’. The exercise is scheduled to be conducted from November 2 to 22 at Orchard Combat Training Centre in Idaho.
This will be the second exercise of the year between the Indian and US armies, the previous being the exercise ‘Yudh Abhyas’ conducted at Rajasthan in September.
Another Indian contingent departed for Cijantung, Jakarta, to take part in the ninth edition of India-Indonesia joint special forces exercise, ‘Garud Shakti’, which started today and will be carried out until November 12. The Indian contingent is being represented by troops from the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) and Indonesian contingent comprises 40 personnel.
