3rd edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam to start from Feb 15
The third edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam, a cultural-exchange programme, will be held from February 15 to February 24, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said.
The minister said Sangamam would be a celebration of one of India’s most revered sages, Maharishi Agasthyar. “Maharishi Agasthyar’s legacy is deeply woven into India’s cultural and spiritual fabric. His intellectual brilliance is the bedrock of Tamil language and literature as well as our shared values, knowledge, traditions and heritage,” Pradhan added.
The Union Education Ministry is the key organiser of the event, which will be held at Namo Ghat in Varanasi. Pradhan said this year’s Kashi Tamil Sangamam held a special significance as it coincided with the Maha Kumbh.
The delegates will have the opportunity to take a holy dip during the Maha Kumbh Mela and a visit to the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Kashi Tamil Sangamam, a brainchild of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is an initiative to celebrate the timeless bonds between Tamil Nadu and Kashi. “An exhibition on the different facets of Sage Agasthyar and his contributions to world of health, philosophy, science, linguistics, literature, polity, culture, art, particularly to Tamil and Tamil Nadu, etc. and seminars, workshops and book release among all will be organised at Kashi during the sangamam,” he said. The Kashi Tamil Sangamam was held for a month in 2022 and for a fortnight in 2023.
