50 cases of public exam paper leak since 2015

The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, 2024, introduced in the Lok Sabha on February 5 aims at preventing paper leaks and unfair means to bring greater transparency, fairness and credibility to the public examination system.
In the past eight years, there have been over 50 instances of paper leaks in government recruitment exams across eight states, jeopardising the future of over 1.4 crore aspirants.
In March 2023, the Telangana Public Service Commission question paper leak affected more than 25,000 students who had appeared in the examination.
Between 2015 and 2023, Rajasthan witnessed 14 cases of question paper leaks in several competitive exams.
In Gujarat too, there have been 14 cases of question paper leak since 2015 in several examinations, including the one for the posts of forest guard in 2022. Some other incidents of paper leak included GPSC chief officer in 2014, Talati examination in 2015, Talati Surendranagar and Gandhinagar examinations (2016). Uttar Pradesh also saw six incidents of paper leak between 2017 and 2022, some of which included Inspectors Online Recruitment Test (2017), UPTET (2021), Preliminary Eligibility Test (2021).
Two persons were arrested from Nalanda in Bihar for paper leak of Bihar constable recruitment exam, which was held on October 1, 2023.
There have been four instances of paper leak since 2019 in Uttarakhand. The SC had scrapped the All-India Pre-Medical Entrance Test (AIPMT) for 2015-16 following paper leak at different centres in 10 states.
