53 Army personnel awarded at Western Command Investiture Ceremony

As many as 53 Army personnel were felicitated for gallantry and distinguished service at the Western Command Investiture Ceremony held in Delhi Cantonment.

This included 14 medals for acts of bravery besides 27 unit citations to Army personnel and units of the Western Command.

The Western Command Banner for exceptional performance in professional activities, sports and adventure was presented to the Golden Arrow Division.

Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, exhorted all ranks to continue their pursuit for professional excellence and remain committed to the security of the nation.

The Investiture Ceremony was preceded by an impressive parade consisting of six marching contingents, eight mechanised contingents and the 61 Cavalry, the only horse-mounted regiment in the world.

The parade also showcased indigenously produced weapons and equipment.

On display were Pinaka Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher System, NAG missile system, Sarvatra Bridging Equipment, Akash Missile System and Swathi Weapon Locating Radar.
