An Indian-origin man studying at Purdue University was found dead on Monday, making it the fifth such case in the US in recent weeks.

US citizen Sameer Kamath, 23, was found dead at a nature reserve on Monday evening. He was a doctoral candidate at the Indiana-based university. It was the second such case involving Indian-origin students of the university in less than 10 days. Kamath’s death, as yet unexplained, was preceded by Indian IT student Syed Mazahir Ali being chased and attacked by unidentified men near his house in Chicago on Sunday.

In videos, Ali can be seen with a bloodied nose and face with blood stains on his clothes as he describes his ordeal. Ali walking to his home at night when three men began chasing him. He was accosted and punched by the men.

Ali is pursuing a Masters in IT from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Last week, 19-year-old Shreyas Reddy Beniger, a student at Lindner School of Business in Ohio State was found dead. However, local authorities have ruled out foul play.

Another Indian student, Neel Acharya at Purdue University, was confirmed dead days after being reported missing on January 28. The cause of his death is still unknown.

Before that, Vivek Saini, who recently earned an MBA degree in the US, was bludgeoned to death by a homeless drug addict in the State of Georgia on January 16. In the CCTC grab, the homeless man can be seen hitting Saini nearly 50 times on the head with a hammer.

Akul B Dhawan, an 18-year-old at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, was found dead last month. His autopsy found hypothermia as the cause of his death.
