Six Russian nationals were detained by the police for questioning as they were found roaming around in the vicinity of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant, a senior official said on Tuesday.

When the Russians, which included a woman, were found by local fishermen moving around in their coastal village of Idinthakarai on Monday, they alerted the police. The foreigners were accompanied by two persons and a car driver.

They were questioned by the Kudankulam police for nearly six hours.
