The Delhi BJP on Monday posted a video on X in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi could be heard accusing the Aam Aadmi Party of “deliberately” failing the students of class 9 to ensure that the results of class 10 were not affected and their reputation was not tarnished.
Fears poor results
They (AAP) only allow those students in class 10 who are guaranteed to clear the exam. They fear if the results are poor, the image of their government will be tarnished.
Narendra Modi, Prime minister
“I have heard that in Delhi they do not promote students to class 10 if they perform poorly in class 9. They only allow those students in class 10 who are guaranteed to clear the exam. They fear that if the results are poor, the image of their government will be tarnished,” the PM said while interacting with students here.
He further said AAP played with the future of students just to show their education policy as successful. “Instead of focusing on improving learning outcomes, they did not give students a chance to take exams and gave priority to publicity,” the Delhi BJP alleged. Notably, 1,01,331 children studying in class 9 in Delhi government schools failed in the session 2023-24, while 88,409 students failed in 2022-23; 28,531 in 2021-22; and 31,540 in 2020-21.
