Air India crash: PM takes stock of situation, directs Civil Aviation Minister to rush to Ahmedabad
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday spoke to Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu and took stock of the Air India flight crash in Ahmedabad, which occurred shortly after take-off and involved 242 passengers.

The Prime Minister was briefed on the situation and instructed the Civil Aviation Minister to rush to the crash site and oversee the ongoing rescue and relief operations.
"The prime minister also directed that all necessary assistance be extended to those affected without delay and emphasised the need for regular updates on the evolving situation," a senior official said.
According to a statement from the Office of the Minister of Civil Aviation, all relevant agencies have been placed on high alert, and coordinated efforts involving central and state teams are under way at the crash site in Meghaninagar, a densely populated area where the aircraft went down.
“The Prime Minister has asked for real-time updates and wants every possible support to be extended immediately,” the statement added.
Further details, including the cause of the crash and the status of passengers, are still awaited.
