‘All show, no substance’: Rahul Gandhi on PM Modi
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he had met the PM in person a few times and found him “all show and no substance”.
Gandhi made the remarks while addressing a ‘Bhagidari Nyay Sammelan’ of OBCs at the Talkatora Stadium here.
Gandhi said, “The PM is all show and no substance. He has been given too much importance.”
Gandhi claimed that after meeting PM Modi two to three times and “sitting with him in the same room”, he had figured out that Modi was never a “big problem”. “The media has inflated the Prime Minister’s balloon beyond proportion,” said the senior Congress leader.
He also targeted the BJP-led Government over the underrepresentation of deprived and marginalised communities in India’s bureaucracy.
“Dalits, backward classes, tribals and minorities together make up nearly 90% of the country’s population. But when the halwa was being distributed after the Budget was prepared, there was no one representing this 90%. It is this 90% of the population that forms the productive force of the nation,” he said.
Referring to the data accessed by the Congress Government in Telangana, Gandhi said people belonging to the SC, ST and OBC communities “are not receiving multi-lakh and multi-crore salary packages in Telangana” as they are not part of corporate entities and their management.
“On the other hand, if we look at the lists of MGNREGA workers or gig workers, they are entirely made up of people from the SC, ST, and OBC communities,” he said.
