The Election Commission (EC) today directed observers appointed for the forthcoming Assembly elections in J&K and Haryana to act as eyes and ears of the poll body.

During a day-long meeting with around 400 observers, the ECI directed them to ensure that the Acts, rules, procedures, instructions and guidelines related to elections are strictly and impartially complied with by all concerned.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and SS Sandhu, briefed the observers on their role in their allotted constituencies. The observers were directed to remain accessible to all parties, candidates and voters for the timely redressal of their grievances.
