Bhagwat launches RSS prayer sung by Mahadevan

The prayer's initial draft was prepared during a meeting in Pune in 1939.

As a precursor to the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh's centenary celebration commencement from the Vijayadashami, Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday released a special rendition of the RSS prayer.

Sung by Shakhar Mahadevan and recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London, the prayer was penned by Narhari Narayan Bhide and first sung by RSS worker Yadav Rao Joshi at the Sangh Shiksha Varg in Pune on April 23, 1940.

Releasing the prayer in Nagpur on Saturday, Bhagwat said it was a collective resolve of RSS volunteers towards the country and God.

This shared vision is the strength of RSS, he said in the presence of actor Sachin Khedekar, veteran presenter Harish Bhimani and musician Rahul Ranade also attended.

Bhagwat added, "The prayer is an expression of devotion, love, and dedication towards Bharat Mata. It is an expression of our service to the nation and the Almighty to help us serve the nation."

RSS chief will declare the Sangh centenary celebrations open with his customary Vijayadashmi address on October 2.
