BJP MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa has come out in strong support of the prosecution’s demand for the death penalty for Sajjan Kumar, convicted in connection with the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Sirsa emphasised the brutal nature of the crimes, citing the horrific murder of 18-year-old Tarundeep and his 50-year-old father Jaswant Singh, who were burned alive while their family members watched in terror.

Sirsa said, “The prosecution has demanded the death penalty for Sajjan Kumar, acknowledging the horrific brutality of the killings. For this heinous crime, Sajjan Kumar should be given the death penalty, and I hope the court will deliver a death sentence on the 21st.”

He also criticised the Congress, saying, “This is a lesson for the Congress. Despite their efforts to protect Sajjan Kumar, the law has finally caught up with him. Congress leaders are now facing life sentences and even death sentences. They must reflect on their past wrongdoings, which are now coming back to haunt them.”

The trial is ongoing, with many closely watching the proceedings and the potential for a landmark decision in the decades-long case.
