In a significant move, the Border Security Force (BSF) has equipped its personnel posted along the India-Bangladesh border with body-worn cameras for the first time.

Sources told The Tribune that around 2,000 personnel stationed along the 4,096-km-long frontier have been provided with the devices, which come with night vision capabilities and are designed to record arrests, pushbacks and confrontations in real time.

“These body cameras will enhance accountability and ensure greater transparency during such incidents, as the recorded footage will help establish the exact sequence of events during investigations,” a senior BSF official said.

At the same time, sources confirmed that no additional deployment has been made along the border. The situation remains under control, following the political turbulence in Bangladesh last year triggered by the brief ouster of the Sheikh Hasina government.
