Briefly: NIA arrests Bihar president of PFI

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday arrested the Bihar state president of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) in the 2022 Phulwari Sharif criminal conspiracy case. Mahboob Alam @ Mahboob Alam Nadvi, a resident of Hasanganj area of Katihar district, Bihar, was nabbed from Kishanganj. He is the 19th accused to be arrested and chargesheeted in the case, which was initially registered by the local police against 26 persons. The case involved PFI associates in unlawful and anti-national activities aimed at creating an atmosphere of terror by spreading religious enmity between members of different religions and groups. Ganesha procession mishap toll rises to 10

Bengaluru: The toll in the Ganesha procession accident in Hassan district increased to 10 on Saturday. Tragedy struck on Friday night at Mosale Hosahalli village in the district when a group of youths were taking out a Ganesha procession. According to the police, the driver lost control of the vehicle and ploughed it into the crowd, killing four people instantaneously, while four others died in the hospital on Friday. PTI
