BSF foils infiltration attempt, nabs 10 Bangladeshis
The Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday foiled a major infiltration attempt by intercepting eight Bangladeshi nationals near Manikganj in Jalpaiguri district, West Bengal. The infiltrators, all from Dinajpur district in Bangladesh, were caught while trying to cross the international border.
During preliminary questioning, they reportedly admitted their intent to seek shelter in India. A search of their belongings revealed Bangladeshi currency and four mobile phones.
In a separate incident on Sunday, the BSF arrested two Bangladeshi women attempting to illegally cross the border near Chakshivanand village in Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal. A search of the women uncovered Indian and Jordanian currency. However, they were handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh during a flag meeting as a goodwill gesture.
Over the past week, the BSF has seized 24 cattle, 608 bottles of Phensedyl syrup and other contraband worth Rs 5,31,032 from various locations along the North Bengal frontier.
