The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the construction of a four-lane greenfield access-controlled Mokama-Munger section of the Buxar-Bhagalpur High-Speed Corridor for Bihar on Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM). The 82.4-km corridor is estimated to cost Rs 4,447.38 crore.
In another decision, the Cabinet approved the doubling of 177-km single railway line section on the Bhagalpur-Dumka-Rampurhat route in Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal at a total cost of Rs 3,169 crore.

The enhanced line capacity will improve mobility, providing enhanced efficiency and service reliability for the Indian Railways, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told reporters.
He added that the multi-tracking proposal will ease operations and reduce congestion, providing the much-required infrastructural development on the busiest sections across the Indian Railways.
