Having been stranded in Delhi for two days following a technical snag in his aircraft, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau finally left Delhi on Tuesday afternoon.
He was the last G20 leader to leave the country after his plane developed a snag when it was to take off on September 10 evening.
Trudeau had to spend the night in Delhi as engineers tried to rectify the mechanical defect. However, by mid-Monday it became apparent that the defect would not be rectified.
A stand-by plane was summoned and Trudeau had to spend a second night on Monday in Delhi. The relief plane arrived in India, enabling the Canadian PM to leave the country after a forced stay of two days.
Canada had on Monday said the earliest possible departure of the Prime Minister and his delegation from the national capital is Tuesday afternoon and that the country’s armed forces are continuing with their best efforts to bring them back home.
The prime minister and his delegation were to leave Delhi after the G20 summit on Sunday. With PTI
