According to the National Cancer Registry Programme report, there has been a 2.37 per cent rise in the number of cancer patients.

The data, presented by the Health Ministry in the Rajya Sabha, stated that the cancer cases in 2023 rose to 14,96,972 from 14,61,427 in 2022.

With 2,15,931 cases, UP leads the chart followed by Bihar with 1,12,180 cases in 2023. West Bengal logged 1,16,230 cases. In the region, Punjab recorded 41,337 cancer cases, HP logged 9,373 cases, Jamp;K (13,744), Chandigarh (1,120), Uttarakhand (12,348), Haryana (31,679) and Delhi (27,561).
