Chandigarh, July 28

Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur on Sunday said the nation would never forget that PM Narendra Modi’s security was compromised by the Punjab Government during his visit to the state in February 2022.

He was addressing a press conference here after a meeting on the Union Budget. On Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann’s charge of discrimination against the state in the Budget, Thakur said, “No state has been discriminated against. I want to tell the Punjab CM, who often fights with the state Governor, that he should not indulge in cheap politics.”

Without any break in his sentence, Thakur said, “During the visit of PM Modi, the Punjab Government compromised his security. The CM should know he is not just ours (BJP’s), but the entire country’s PM.”

He claimed the BJP government had implemented the Swaminathan Commission report for the welfare of farmers. “The UPA government had not done anything in this regard. It is the Modi government that is implementing it,” he claimed.

On Mann boycotting the Niti Aayog meeting, Thakur said, “He should not play politics on matters related to country’s development and skip crucial meetings.” He alleged the AAP government in Punjab had claimed that it would implement the MSP even if the Centre didn’t. “Where have the claims gone now?” he said.

Taking on the Delhi Government, the MP said, “AAP wanted to make Delhi a city of lakes. Where have the lakes vanished? Three IAS aspirants died due to drowning in the basement of a coaching institute there. What are they doing about safety of the city residents?”
