Chilean President Gabriel Boric will arrive in India on April 1 for his first state visit, accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers, lawmakers, business leaders and cultural representatives. The five-day tour includes stops in Agra, Mumbai and Bengaluru before his departure on April 5.
President Boric will hold key meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu on April 1 to strengthen bilateral ties. Chile, India’s important Latin American partner, was the only country in the region to send a special envoy to India’s Independence Day celebrations in 1947.
In Mumbai and Bengaluru, Boric will engage with business leaders, startups and tech innovators. Bilateral trade in 2024 stands at Rs 38,453 crore, favouring Chile, while Indian investments in Chile total $620 million through acquisitions and joint ventures. Chilean investments in India amount to $118 million.
