Col Qureshi hails from a military background and had joined the Indian Army Corps in 1999. In 2016, she became the first woman officer to lead a multinational military exercise.

Her sister and other family members gathered along the streets of Vadodara to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister. Posters lauding the Indian military’s role in ‘Operation Sindoor’, India’s response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives, lined the roads.

Her sister, Shyana Sunesara, said that they were at PM Modi’s roadshow to celebrate ‘Operation Sindoor’.
