Congress launches website, email ID to seek people's suggestions for 2024 Lok Sabha poll manifesto
New Delhi, January 17
The Congress Party on Wednesday said that any decision on having a joint manifesto of the INDIA alliance parties will be taken by chiefs of all outfits, even as it launched a website and email ID for seeking people’s suggestions for its own manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
The Chairman of the Congress party’s manifesto committee, P Chidambaram, while addressing a press conference, told media persons that at least one public consultation per state will be held for seeking suggestions for the party’s manifesto.
“INDIA alliance parties are welcome to participate in these public consultations,” he informed reporters.
Congress leader and former Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister T S Singhdeo said that a decision on an INDIA alliance common manifesto will be taken by the chiefs of all alliance parties.
He added that all sections of society are welcome to give their suggestions for the Congress Party’s manifesto, for which an email ID and a website called “awaazbharatki.in” have been launched today.
Chidambaram said while two meetings have been held of the manifesto committee, the idea behind launching a website and email ID is to take as many suggestions from the general public as possible, since it’s going to be a people’s manifesto.
Asked about the deadline of finalising the manifesto, the former Finance and Home Minister said that ideally he would like to wrap up the exercise by February 15.
All the 15 members of the manifesto committee, Chidambaram said, will also be travelling to various states for seeking suggestions.
He further informed that the Congress party’s manifesto will also have reference to all the unjust laws framed by the BJP-led Central Government, including the three criminal laws.
On being asked whether the document will have suggestions on the three criminal laws, Chidambaram said that his dissent note against the laws as well as of other Congress leaders are already available in public domain.
