The Congress on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led NDA government, accusing it of fostering division and failing to deliver on its promises in the last 11 years of its rule.

Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s politics over the past decade has been rooted in “disintegration and division”, and claimed that the BJP has failed to deliver on key promises despite making “a lot of noise.”

”In the last 11 years, BJP leaders have delivered fiery speeches and made a lot of noise, but every scheme they launched has ended in failure and gone up in smoke,” Baghel told reporters.

The Congress leader alleged that Modi’s entire politics has been about creating divisions and all communities across the country are feeling insecure. “The Prime Minister, instead of addressing their concerns, adds fuel to the fire with his provocative speeches,” he said.

Baghel also accused the Union Government of ignoring atrocities against Dalits and tribals, alleging that BJP leaders who insult or harass women, tribals, or even Army personnel, face no consequences. “They are indifferent to the suffering of Dalits and tribals. Even when their own leaders insult or abuse these communities, or harass women and Army officials, no action is taken against them,” Baghel said.

The Congress leader also claimed that the lockdown was imposed without any thought and preparation during the Covid-19 pandemic and due to this, people got stranded here and there in the entire country. Those who got affected by the virus did not get treatment and in this way lakhs of people lost their lives, he claimed.

“The number of deaths has suddenly increased in the country after the Covid-19 pandemic. People are losing their lives, but no study is being done on this in the country,” he said.

Echoing similar sentiments, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge launched a direct attack on the Prime Minister, accusing him of spreading falsehoods and misleading the nation. “I’ve been in politics for 65 years, and I have never seen a Prime Minister who lies so much,” Kharge said in Kartanataka’s Kalaburagi.

Both leaders emphasised that the Modi government’s record over the last 11 years has been marked by broken promises, growing insecurity among marginalised communities, and divisive rhetoric.
