A CRPF officer was killed, while another was injured after they were struck by lightning during an operation at Keriburu village of Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district on Thursday night. Two Jharkhand police personnel were also injured in the incident.
Officials said M Prabo Singh, a Second-in-Command rank officer belonging to the CRPF’s 26th battalion, died in the mishap while injured Assistant Commandant Subir Kumar Mandal was admitted to hospital in Noamundi.
Evacuation of personnel, who were present at a CRPF security outpost, took time as rain hampered the rescue operation, they added.
