Delhi blast: 'In this moment of grief, we stand in solidarity with bereaved,' says CJI Gavai
Chief Justice of India BR Gavai expressed solidarity on behalf of the Supreme Court and the entire legal fraternity with all those affected
Describing it as a “devastating tragedy”, the Supreme Court on Tuesday paid homage to the victims of the November 10 blast near the Red Fort in the national capital that claimed 12 lives and left more than 20 injured.
“We all are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives caused by the car blast that occurred in Delhi on the evening of 10th November 2025,” Chief Justice of India BR Gavai said as he expressed solidarity on behalf of the Supreme Court and the entire legal fraternity with all those affected.
While addressing a Full Court Reference to pay tribute to senior advocates Sharat S Javali and Jagdish Chandra Gupta, the CJI made special mention of the November 10 blast to convey his heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and reaffirmed the top court’s commitment to uphold the rule of law and ensure justice.
“On behalf of the Supreme Court of India and the entire judicial as well as legal fraternity in the country, I convey our deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in this devastating tragedy.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who are grieving, as well as with those who are injured or otherwise affected. No words can truly ease the pain of such loss, yet we hope that the collective compassion and solidarity of the nation will offer some comfort in this hour of sorrow,” the CJI said.
"In this moment of grief, we stand in solidarity with the bereaved. We reaffirm our steadfast commitment to uphold the rule of law, ensure justice, and safeguard the dignity of every citizen. May the departed souls rest in eternal peace. May courage and solace reach the bereaved families and all those who mourn this irreparable loss,” Justice Gavai said.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had condemned the “cowardly terrorist attack on tourists” at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir in which 28 people were killed and several others were injured on April 22, 2025.
Terming it a “diabolical act of mindless violence”, a resolution unanimously adopted by the Full Court had said, “The nation stands with the victims and their families in this hour of indescribable grief.”
