Doval speaks to Iranian counterpart, Op Sindoor figures in talks
National Security Adviser Ajit Doval on Sunday spoke with his Iranian counterpart, Ali Akbar Ahmadian, with Operation Sindoor — India’s response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack — learnt to have been discussed.
A statement from the Iranian Embassy later said that Doval emphasised Iran’s constructive role in the region and expressed India’s interest in expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in the development of Chabahar Port and the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC). He also thanked Iran for its continued assistance and support.
Ahmadian affirmed that Iran and India, as two ancient civilisations, share deep-rooted ties and significant potential for political and economic collaboration. During the call, he also stressed the need to swiftly implement strategic projects and reiterated that bilateral cooperation serves the broader interests of regional peace and stability.
Ahmadian is Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
