Drunk passenger delays IndiGo Delhi-Kolkata flight, chants ‘Har Har Mahadev’

The customer was declared unruly and handed over to security upon arrival

An IndiGo flight from Delhi to Kolkata was delayed on Monday evening after a passenger, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, created a ruckus on board by asking fellow travellers to chant ‘Har Har Mahadev’, sources told The Tribune.

As per the sources, the passenger was reeking of alcohol when he boarded flight 6E 6571 on September 1. After taking his seat, he began disturbing co-passengers with repeated chants and requests to join him.

The sources claimed that the disruption continued as he demanded to step out of the aircraft for a smoke, but the cabin crew refused as the plane was readying for take-off.

“We are aware of an incident of unruly behaviour onboard IndiGo flight 6E 6571 operating from Delhi to Kolkata on 01 September 2025. One of the customers onboard, under the influence of alcohol, was found to be misbehaving with the cabin crew and disturbing fellow passengers. In line with established protocols, the said customer was declared unruly and was handed over to security upon arrival. A formal complaint was also lodged with the relevant authorities,” an IndiGo spokesperson said.

The airline reiterated that it maintains a “zero-tolerance policy towards any form of disruptive or abusive conduct” and emphasised its commitment to ensuring a safe environment for passengers and crew.
