The Election Commission on Wednesday fact-checked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on reportedly labelling voters in the Bhoganahalli area of Bengaluru as fake.

In a statement, the poll body said house numbers of residents of the area had been notionally mentioned as "zero", stating that they had been living in Bhoganahalli for more than 15 years.

"However these voters had been labelled as fake in the recent press conference by Rahul Gandhi. There are many more such examples," the Election Commission sources said.

The Congress leader last week had made a detailed presentation before the media, highlighting several instances of alleged vote theft, after which the poll body has been constantly fact checking his claims on a daily basis.
