The ED on Friday conducted searches at the residence and other locations connected to DMK MP Kathir Anand in Tamil Nadu’s Vellore district, including the residence of his father and Water Resources Minister Durai Murugan.
The case is related to the violations of RBI guidelines and cheating by bank officials, facilitating the exchange of Rs 200 notes with Rs 500 and 1,000 notes.
The Minister was not present at his residence when the ED team arrived there. Murugan later held a meeting with his lawyers at his Kotturpuram residence in Chennai.
In 2019, EC officials had seized Rs 11 crore from Anand’s residence, following which the EC recommended the case to the then President Ram Nath Kovind.
