Even Rahul’s aides know Cong, INDIA bloc have no future: BJP
Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram’s recent remarks, expressing uncertainty over the cohesion of the Opposition’s INDIA bloc have given the BJP a chance to capitalise on the perceived discord within the alliance.
Speaking at a book launch event on Thursday, the Congress veteran acknowledged internal strains within the INDIA bloc, stating, “The future (of INDIA bloc) is not so bright... It seems that it is frayed.”
BJP national spokesperson Syed Zafar Islam said, “Chidambaram has admitted that this arrogant alliance neither has a basis nor any future. We have said time and again that the INDIA bloc is a picnic alliance that keeps travelling from place to place, seeking to hatch a conspiracy against the BJP.”
Echoing Syed’s sentiments, BJP’s Pradeep Bhandari said, “Congress Leader P Chidambaram has predicted that the Opposition will not be intact in future as the BJP is a formidable organisation. Even Rahul Gandhi’s close aides know that the Congress has no future!”
Chidambaram’s acknowledgment of the BJP’s organisational strength and the challenges that the opposition alliance is facing has provided the ruling party with fresh ammunition to question the viability of the INDIA bloc.
“Chidambaram has given the INDIA bloc and the Congress a reality check, as the party and the alliance remains in a delusion. Their alliance was not based on any mission or vision, it was formed only to protect corruption, commissions, political ambitions, appeasement strategies and an obsession against Modi,” BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said.
