Eye on Bihar elections, NDA MPs meet Modi

The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) began early preparations for the Bihar Assembly elections, with all ruling coalition MPs meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital on Friday.

Union Ministers Rajiv Ranjan Singh and Chirag Paswan, along with JDU working president and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Jha, were part of the delegation that met the PM in his Parliament office.

The NDA MPs thanked the Prime Minister for a Union Budget that proposed major initiatives for Bihar, a state that has traditionally lagged in development indicators.

The delegation is also believed to have conveyed its readiness for the upcoming state elections.

The BJP is expected to formulate its Bihar strategy soon, with key meetings planned after the results of the Delhi elections are announced tomorrow.

The party is eyeing a comeback in Delhi after 27 years, and a victory there could provide momentum for the Bihar polls, scheduled later this year.

The NDA alliance in Bihar will contest the elections together, and the BJP is unlikely to challenge JDU chief and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership.
