Father of pilot in Air India crash moves Supreme Court, seeks independent probe

Pushkaraj Sabharwal, father of Sumeet Sabharwal, Pilot-in-Command of the Air India Dreamliner London flight involved in the Ahmedabad crash, has moved the Supreme Court seeking fair, transparent and technically robust probe into the crash.

The petitioner said the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) report predominantly focused on the deceased pilots, who are no longer able to defend themselves.

The report failed to examine other more plausible technical and procedural causes of the crash, he alleged.

The June 12 Air India plane crash at Ahmedabad had claimed 265 lives, including those of both pilots and crew members.
