Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman will embark on an official visit to Uzbekistan from September 24-28. She will lead an Indian delegation comprising officials from the Ministry of Finance.

During her visit, Sitharaman will attend the ninth annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Samarkand, scheduled for September 25 and 26. In addition to the AIIB meeting, she is expected to hold bilateral meetings with her counterparts from Uzbekistan, Qatar, China, and the AIIB President.

As the Indian Governor to the AIIB, Sitharaman will represent India, the bank’s second-largest shareholder. Discussions during the meeting will cover a wide range of global issues critical to the development agenda. The Finance Minister is also expected to meet HE Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan, as part of her official engagements.
