Vibhakar Shastri, grandson of former PM Lal Bahadur Shastri, joined the BJP on Wednesday in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak.

In a post on X, Shastri tagged Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge as he tendered his resignation.

‘Hon’ble Congress President Shri @kharge ji! Respected Sir, I hereby tender my resignation from the primary membership of Indian National Congress (@INCIndia) Regards Vibhakar Shastri’, the post by Shastri read.

The resignation comes close on the heel of stalwarts like Ashok Chavan and Baba Siddique quitting the grand old party.
