German singer CassMae finds global recognition after PM Modi’s mention on ‘Mann Ki Baat’
A mention on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Mann Ki Baat” radio programme has transformed the life of CassMae, a young German singer who is blind from birth and can sing in 12 Indian languages.
CassMae, who has a deep passion for Indian music and culture, found herself in the spotlight after PM Modi spoke about her on “Mann Ki Baat”. The programme, which has been airing since 2014, often highlights inspirational stories, and CassMae’s journey is one of them.
Following the mention, her life changed dramatically. “When I heard that Narendra Modi Ji was mentioning me in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’, it meant the world to me. I was baffled and speechless for a couple of minutes,” she shared in a video posted by the official “Mann Ki Baat” account on X.
The recognition brought her into the media limelight, leading to multiple interviews in Germany and India. “There was extensive media coverage, with 10 to 20 interviews a day,” she said.
CassMae later had the opportunity to meet PM Modi in person, an experience she described as surreal. “Last year, I received a call from the Prime Minister’s Office. After that, we met in person. He spoke kindly, told jokes, and interacted with us casually. He is a great politician and a role model for many. I never imagined he would like my songs. It is still unbelievable to me.”
Her love for music and spirituality has drawn her to India, a country she now deeply admires. “I am very happy. I love music and spirituality. That’s why I love India,” she said.
