Glitch delays European satellite launch by ISRO
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has postponed the launch of the PSLV-C59 rocket, originally scheduled for Wednesday, due to an “anomaly” detected in the PROBA-3 spacecraft. The launch is now rescheduled for Thursday at 4:12 pm, the agency announced just minutes before the planned lift-off.
The Bengaluru-based space agency had initially planned the launch at 4:08 pm on Wednesday from the Sriharikota spaceport near Chennai.
“Due to an anomaly detected in PROBA-3 spacecraft, PSLV-C59/PROBA-3 launch is rescheduled to tomorrow at 16:12 hours,” the space agency said in an update.
PROBA-3, comprising two satellites designed to study the Sun, has been developed by the European Space Agency (ESA). The launch is part of an arrangement between ESA and NewSpace India Limited, the commercial arm of ISRO.
“As part of standard pre-launch preparations, a technical issue was detected in the PROBA-3 spacecraft. Lift-off is now scheduled no earlier than 5 December at 10:34 GMT/11:34 CET,” ESA posted on X.
