HAL, Pune institute ink pact to bridge aerospace tech gap

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s (HAL) nodal training institute, HAL Management Academy (HMA), has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Pune, a premier institution under DRDO, to enhance collaboration between industry and academia. The partnership aims to drive cutting-edge research, foster innovation and accelerate skill development in the aerospace sector.The agreement is expected to create a robust ecosystem for next-generation aerospace solutions, reinforcing India’s position as a global leader in aviation and defence technology. As part of the collaboration, HAL executives will have the opportunity to pursue master’s and PhD programmes at DIAT. They will also be able to participate in specialised modules on emerging technologies, engage in faculty and student exchange programmes and contribute to joint conferences, seminars and research projects.

The MoU was signed by Dr G Srikantha Sharma, Executive Director of HMA, and Dr BHVS Narayana Murthy, Vice-Chancellor of DIAT, in the presence of Dr DK Sunil, Chairman and Managing Director of HAL. Speaking on the occasion, officials emphasised the importance of bridging the gap between research institutions and industry to develop advanced solutions for India’s aerospace and defence sectors.

With this collaboration, HAL and DIAT aim to strengthen India’s technological capabilities, ensuring the country remains at the forefront of aviation and defence advancements.
