The Punjab and Haryana High Court today expressed hope and expectation that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) would take into account all legitimate objections when considering the certification of film ‘2020-Delhi’.

The Bench also disposed of a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking prohibition against the public exhibition of the film scheduled for release on February 2. The High Court found the petition premature and disposed of it without commenting on the merits of the case. Among other things, the counsel for the petitioner had contended that certain objectionable scenes might adversely affect the law and order, “especially in the charged atmosphere of ongoing election campaign regarding the Delhi Assembly”.

The Bench, comprising Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Sumeet Goel, noted that the CBFC had not yet received an application for certification from the film’s producer.
