New Delhi, July 25
The Centre has approved a range of urban flood management and glacial lake outburst flood mitigation projects for several states, including Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, which were ravaged by rains last year.

- The six projects of Rs 2,514.36 crore cleared for urban flood management will cover Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Pune
- The three projects of Rs 810.64 crore for expansion and modernisation of fire services are for Assam, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu
A high-level committee met under the chairmanship of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah here today and approved several disaster mitigation and capacity-building projects for states. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Chouhan and the Niti Aayog Vice-Chairman too participated in the meeting.
The committee considered nine proposals for funding from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund and the National Disaster Response Fund to combat urban flooding in six cities, mitigate glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF) in four hill states and to strengthen fire services in three states.
The GLOF risk mitigation project proposal of Rs 150 crore was approved for Himachal, Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Arunachal.
