In major rejig, govt names new DoPT, Defence Secys

In a major reshuffle, the Centre on Friday appointed new DoPT, Defence and Health Secretaries, while effecting changes in as many as 18 departments.
Haryana-cadre IAS officer of 1989 batch Vivek Joshi has been appointed Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). He is currently Secretary, Banking, in the Ministry of Finance. The post of DoPT Secretary had been lying vacant for some time with Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla holding its additional charge.
Kerala-cadre IAS officer of 1989 batch Rajesh Kumar Singh has been appointed Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Ministry of Defence. He will take charge as Secretary after the completion of tenure of incumbent Aramane Giridhar’s on October 31. Singh will have a fixed tenure of two years. He is currently Secretary, Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
Punya Salia Srivastava, an IAS officer of 1993 batch of AGMUT cadre, has been appointed OSD in the Ministry of Health. He will take charge as Secretary on September 30 after the superannuation of incumbent Apurva Chandra. Srivastava is currently Special Secretary in the PMO.
Another Haryana-cadre IAS officer of 1993 batch Sukriti Likhi, has been appointed OSD in the National Authority Chemical Weapons Convention. She will take charge as chairperson of the authority on Sept 30 after the superannuation of incumbent Mukhmeet Singh Bhatia. Likhi is currently Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Steel. The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Haryana-cadre IAS officer of 1993 batch Deepti Umashankar as OSD to the President. She will take over as Secretary to the President after the superannuation of incumbent Rajesh Verma on Aug 31. Umashankar is currently Additional Secy, DoPT.
Manoj Govil, a Madhya Pradesh IAS officer of 1991 batch, has been appointed new Expenditure Secy in the Ministry of Finance. Govil is currently Corporate Affairs Secretary. K Srinivas, a Gujarat-cadre IAS officer of 1989 batch, has been appointed Housing and Urban Affairs Secy.
Deepti Gaur Mukherjee, a MP-cadre IAS officer of 1993 batch, has been appointed Corporate Affairs Secretary. Maharashtra-cadre IAS officer of 1993 batch Sanjeev Kumar has been appointed Secretary in the Defence Production Dept. He is currently Chairman, Airports Authority of India. Amardeep Singh Bhatia, a Nagaland-cadre IAS officer, who is currently Additional Secy in the Ministry of Commerce, has been appointed DPIIT Secretary in place of Rajesh Kumar Singh.
