In parliament: 38 districts hit by LWE

Nityanand Rai, MoS for Home, told Parliament on Tuesday that 38 districts in the country were affected by Left-wing extremism (LWE). Of these, 15 are in Chhattisgarh, seven Odisha, five Jharkhand, three MP, two each in Kerala, Maharashtra and Telangana, and one each in Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal.

Key post vacant since ’19

Social Justice Minister Virendra Kumar said the post of Chief Commissioner in the Office of Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities has been vacant since 2019 and Secretary in the Department of Empowerment of PwDs has been holding additional charge. In the appointments process following issuance of advertisement to fill the post on four occasions, no suitable candidate was found.
