In Parliament: Rail accidents down by 90% since 2005-06
Rail accidents have reduced by 90% since 2005-06, said Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. “In 2005, when Lalu Yadav was the minister, 234 rail accidents and 698 derailments took place. Under Mamata Banerjee’s tenure, 165 accidents and 395 derailments took place, while under Mallikarjun Kharge’s term, 118 mishaps and 268 derailments took place,” he said.
Need to safeguard NRIs’ properties
Citing increased cases of NRIs’ properties being grabbed by miscreants, Rajya Sabha member Satnam Singh Sandhu urged the Centre to put in place a robust mechanism for safeguarding the interests of NRIs. As per the MEA’s records, 140 complaints have been received from NRIs about property disputes in the last three and a half years.
Artefacts in Parl Street police station warehouse
“No historically significant artefacts, including those belonging to revolutionaries Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt, were lying in the Malkhana of the Parliament Street police station in Delhi,” Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat replied to Congress MP Manish Tewari’s query.
Punjab MPs seek train service to Nanded
AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang on Monday demanded a direct special train from his constituency, Anandpur Sahib, to Nanded in Maharashtra, both of which are revered Sikh shrines. Meanwhile, SAD MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal demanded Vande Bharat train between New Delhi and Bathinda, and direct rail link from Damdama Sahib to Nanded Sahib.
