INA’s famous song ‘Kadam Kadam’ to be played at R-Day
The Subhas Chandra Bose-led Indian National Army’s iconic song ‘kadam kadam badhaye ja…’ will be among the tunes played at the Republic Day Parade.
The 90-minute parade, which would display a mix of military might, emerging technologies, cultural activities and celebrate 75 years of Constitution, is scheduled to start at 10.30 am. A full-dress rehearsal was conducted today.
The parade would be heralded by musical instruments followed by showering of flower petals by Mi-17 helicopters of the Indian Air Force.
Military marching contingents shall follow and among the designated tunes is the INA’s song which was written by poet-lyricist Vanshidhar Shukla, while musician Capt Ram Singh Thakur captured the essence of 1942-43 when Bose was popular as freedom fighter.
President Droupadi Murmu will take the salute and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the nation in paying tribute to the martyrs by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial.
The parade would see cutting-edge technologies and a mission to achieve ‘self-reliance’ in defence.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will display some of its path-breaking innovations. On its tableau would be posters of long-range hypersonic anti-ship missile and the ‘Zorawar’ light tank, among others.
