India announces USD 5,00,000 assistance to earthquake-hit Vanuata

India on Thursday announced an assistance of USD 500,000 to earthquake-hit Vanuatu.
A 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck near Vanuatu’s coast in the South Pacific Ocean on December 17 last year, resulting in destruction to life and property.
India also extended its condolences to the people of Vanuatu whose kin were killed in the natural calamity.

In a statement, Ministry of External Affairs(MEA) said Vanuata is a close friend and partner under the forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC).
