India Energy Week: Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri says India has achieved 100 per cent clean cooking access
Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday said India has achieved 100 per cent clean cooking access through Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, city gas expansion and solar cooking.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of Indian Energy Week(IEW) 2025, the minister said, “The challenge is not technology but scaling excess equitability. India has achieved 100 percent clean cooking access through Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, city gas expansion and solar cooking while as proving that policy driven solutions can transform lives.”
He said the answer to energy transition lies in “strategic investments across hydrocarbons and renewables”.
“The future lies in smart capital reallocation. For instance deploying wind and solar where intermittency is manageable. Biofuels where liquid fuel demand persists. And gas where firm power is essential. That is how we assure both affordability…,” he said.
IEW 2025 is a major international event for the energy industry, highlighting India's position as a key player in the global energy transition. It's being held in New Delhi from February 11th to 14th, 2025.
IEW brings together energy leaders, policymakers, and innovators from around the world, who would hold discussions on the most pressing challenges in the energy sector and find solutions for a sustainable energy future.
