India expresses concern after fresh flare-up snuffs out 400 Palestinian lives in Gaza
India on Wednesday expressed concern over the latest situation in Gaza after more than 400 people were reportedly killed in the latest Israeli strikes in the region.
"We are concerned over the situation in Gaza. It is important that all hostages are released," Ministry of External Affairs(MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.
"We also call for supply of humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza to be sustained," he added.
Over 400 Palestinians were reportedly killed in overnight Israeli strikes on Gaza, with hundreds injured.
Israel said that its forces struck Palestinian militant group Hamas’ targets in Gaza in an effort to secure "the release of all our hostages—living and dead".
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israel would act against Hamas "with increasing military force."
There was calm for two months in Gaza following truce between the warring sides from January 19 this year, since a ceasefire and hostage-prisoner exchange agreement between Israel and Hamas took place.
Hamas has accused Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement.
Mahmoud Abu Wafah, the highest-ranking Hamas security official in Gaza, was reportedly among those killed.
Earlier, the White House said Israel consulted with the Donald Trump Administration before the airstrikes on Gaza.
