India, Singapore review ties in tech, trade & digitisation

India and Singapore explored ways to further expand their bilateral cooperation in areas of advanced technology, trade, connectivity and digitisation during the 3rd India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) here on Wednesday.

The Indian delegation included Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs; S Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs; Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry; and Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.

It added from the Singapore side, Gan Kim Yong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry; K Shanmugam, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs; Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Foreign Affairs; Josephine Teo, Minister for Digital Development and Information; Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower; and Jeffrey Siow, Acting Minister for Transport, participated in the meeting.

Both sides reviewed the progress of various bilateral cooperation initiatives under the six pillars of ISMR, including advanced manufacturing, connectivity, digitalisation, healthcare and medicine, skills development and sustainability, it said.

The report of the 3rd India-Singapore Business Roundtable was also presented to the ministers, underlining the key role of the private sector in this endeavour, it said.

During the visit, the Ministers from Singapore called on President Droupadi Murmu, the statement said.
