Days after widespread flight disruptions triggered passenger outrage, regulatory scrutiny and forced the airline to scale down its schedule under government directions, IndiGo on Saturday claimed that its operations have stabilised, asserting five consecutive days of normal performance across its network.

The airline said it is operating more than 2,050 flights a day, connecting all 138 destinations, and has seen only a limited number of same-day cancellations, largely due to technical reasons.

In a statement, IndiGo said its on-time performance has remained “consistently normal” by its own standards and dismissed reports of large-scale cancellations as misleading.

Data shared by the airline shows that IndiGo operated over 1,700 flights on December 8 with one cancellation. This rose to more than 1,800 flights on December 9 with no cancellations, over 1,900 flights on December 10 with two cancellations, and more than 1,950 flights on December 11 with four cancellations. On December 12, the airline said it operated over 2,050 flights with two cancellations, while a similar volume is expected on Saturday till mid night.

The airline said all cancellations were caused by technical issues and that affected passengers were immediately re-accommodated on alternate flights.

“Demonstrating continuous operational normalisation and stability for the last five days, IndiGo is set to operate over 2,050 flights on Saturday till late night as per its revised schedule, scaled down in line with government directives,” an IndiGo spokesperson said.

IndiGo said it has asked airport operators to display updated flight schedules on terminal screens to avoid confusion among passengers.

With more than 3.25 lakh passengers flying with it daily, the airline said it remains confident of customer trust and urged travellers not to be misled by what it called “false information” about mass cancellations, as it seeks to draw a line under the recent turbulence.
