Indonesian president pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat
Indonesia President Prabowo Subianto on Saturday paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat in New Delhi on Saturday.
Earlier in the day, Subianto received a ceremonial reception and guard of honour at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
He was welcomed by President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
“A special welcome for a special friend!” Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on X.
Subianto is the chief guest for the 76th Republic Day celebrations. He is the fourth president from Indonesia to participate in India’s Republic Day celebrations. The chief guest for India’s first Republic Day was former Indonesian president Sukarno in 1950.
