'Insult to my mother is an insult to every mother in India': PM Modi
Breaking his silence on recent unsavoury remarks made against his late mother by leaders from the shared stage of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress in election-bound Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said his mother’s insult was an insult to every mother, daughter and sister of India.
Recalling what he described as “abuses hurled at my mother from the RJD and Congress stage”, PM Modi said he was sharing his pain with the mothers and daughters of Bihar to be able to absorb it.
“I know the mothers, daughters and sisters of Bihar are as pained at these insults as I am,” he said at the launch of the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited via video conferencing.
Modi said he had been serving society and the nation for over 50 years and entered politics only later in life.
“Every mother desires that her son will serve her. But my mother permitted me to give up all filial duties so I could devote my life to the service of the country. Such a mother who has immense contributions in my life and who had nothing to do with politics was hurled with invectives. I can see how pained you are at this. This is traumatic and hurtful,” said Modi attacking the opposition.
The prime minister remembered his mother, who passed away after completing hundred years of age, and said the women of Bihar will sense the pain he felt when the opposition abused her.
